As a leftist, I oppose imperialism and militarism. We all should. But it has taken me awhile to learn to separate the soldier from the mission. Our veterans and active duty troops are often victimized just as much by the war machine as those on the other end of America’s overseas “adventures.”
As a civilian, I know that I don’t know.
So I invited my good friend Derrick Holder, host of the Hold’Em Accountable podcast, former congressional candidate, and - most importantly for the purposes of this episode - a Marine Corps veteran, to help me understand the issues faced by our service-members when they return home.
US Navy veteran Charles Gill joined us for the duration and we also got a cameo appearance from Army vet Blythe Potter, candidate for Indiana Secretary of State.
