I listened to the conversation. Maichin is just one more hillbilly racist who’s learned to hide his bigotries in a calm delivery and a nice clipped affectation.
I don’t think we listened to the same podcast… Maichin is more moderate than most of the Republican Party at this point and his condemnation of trump where necessary is importsnt. Not sure where the racism allegation is coming from…
But he said he would have voted for Trump if he lived in a state where it made a difference. He doesn’t really dislike the bigotry and corruption. He is a Fascist with a pleasant delivery.
I’m sorry what definition of fascism are you going by? Because he said in a hypothetical world he would have voted for trump he is now a fascist? He obviously dislikes bigotry and corruption enough to not vote for trump regardless of the state he lives in. He could have voted for trump if his views aligned with that but they very clearly don’t. I would suggest considering looking into the Biden administration in terms of corruption when the president was mentally incapable of participating in a debate yet still was competent enough to run the country? I’d say that’s far more corrupt than someone POTENTIALLY voting for trump.
I’m sorry what exactly was your goal with this episode? Did you bring him on to try and change his views because he disagrees with you? It’s sentiments like that that show why we have such deep divisions in our country. If we can’t accept that some people are just not in complete agreement with us how can we ever move forward??? Meeting people half way is no longer an option I guess if your goal at the end of the day is to change their beliefs.
I think it's important to know what makes individuals tick and vote the way they do. Especially young men, I'm trying to figure out how we de-MAGAfy them, probing for points of potential agreement as a way into a more progressive message. I know this for sure - I wouldn't want to be judged irredeemable for some of the stuff I believed when I was about his age.

I didn't get that at all from him. He just sounds like a capitalist.

I think he's just a young white kid from the suburbs who doesn't get it yet. And that's why I'm surrounding him with a bunch of liberals and leftists.
